  • When should I have a colonoscopy?

    The general rule of thumb is for everyone 50 years of age or older to have a colonoscopy to screen for cancer and polyps. A patient with a family history of colon polyps/cancer should have a colonoscopy sooner. Regardless of age, anyone with gastrointestinal ailments should discuss their symptoms and concerns with a physician/gastroenterologist.

  • How can I prepare for my first visit?

    If you are a new patient to our practice or have not visited for over a year, you should plan to come earlier than scheduled to fill out the appropriate paperwork. We will make a photocopy of a valid photo ID and proof of insurance (i.e. insurance card). Be sure to also bring a written list of your current medications. You will be asked to fill out a medical history sheet that will help our doctors put things in perspective. You also have the option of printing and filling out these forms before your visit by visiting the For Patients page on our website.

    If you have HMO insurance, please be sure to obtain the required referral. Our front desk may also need to check if authorization for the visit was received.

  • How can I schedule an appointment?

    You can select the Schedule Appointment tab on our website or you can call us at (562) 247-4050. Online scheduling is currently only available for our Long Beach location.

  • Will I be able to see the same physician during all my appointments? Does it matter which doctor I see?
    You have the option of selecting the same physician for each of your visits. Doing so may result in longer intervals, however, than if you select the closest available appointment date. All of our physicians are board certified and highly skilled and knowledgeable on all subjects regarding the digestive organs.
  • Do you accept insurance?
    Please visit our Insurance and Billing page for information about determining whether we accept your insurance.
  • How much will my visit/procedure cost?
    Costs vary between insurance providers and medical procedure. A clear understanding of your benefits and insurance policy will give you the best idea of your medical costs.
  • When do I pay for my co-payment?

    Your co-payment is due on the day of your scheduled visit.

  • Why can’t I drive after my procedure?
    Certain procedures require the use of sedation to make patients more comfortable and at ease. This makes the procedure much more simple, but the effects do not wear off quickly. Patients typically cannot drive until the next morning after their procedure. For this reason, it is necessary for patients to bring a friend or family member who can drive them home. For your safety and security, we do not allow you to hire a taxi for this purpose. We do offer transportation services, but prior scheduling is necessary for this.
  • When will I know the results of my procedure?
    Our physicians will inform you of their initial findings before you leave our facility. If a biopsy was taken for further testing, results usually take up to 14 days and will be forwarded to your primary doctor. In the case of any abnormal results, you will be contacted immediately.
